Traditional Japanese Tattoos

At King’s Head Tattoo, one of our favorite styles of tattoo is the traditional Japanese tattoos, also known as irezumi or horimono. One of the oldest styles of tattooing, irezumi has a rich history and cultural significance in Japan. Traditionally, these tattoos were reserved for members of the criminal underworld, as well as a symbol of devotion to a particular religious or spiritual tradition. Today, Japanese tattoos are celebrated for their intricate designs and bold colors, and have gained popularity around the world. Our artists at King’s Head Tattoo specialize in both traditional Japanese and neo-traditional Japanese tattoo. When it comes to Japanese tattoos, we have a collection of some of the best tattoo artists in Pacific Beach and throughout San Diego. The imagery we create stays traditional with powerful creatures such as dragons, tigers, and koi fish, as well as floral and nature motifs. King’s Head artists are highly skilled and able to incorporate a traditional design that fits the forms and shape of your body to make your tattoo visually beautiful. Whether it is a small cherry blossom, traditional sleave, or a full body suit, we look forward to working with you to design the tattoo that you have always wanted. Let’s get started!
